Training for professionals working with young people
As part of our professional training we have run several sessions with audiences who work particularly with young people, such as those in NHS CAMHS services.
For several years we also delivered short courses aimed particularly at professionals working with young people.
SAfEE (‘Stalking Awareness for Education Environments’) was a suite of CPD-accredited training courses developed in association with In association with St Mary’s University, Twickenham, designed for professionals working with young people in a variety of education environments.
The SAfEE package included one- and two-day courses suitable for learners aspiring to work in campaigning and charity work around stalking, sexual violence and domestic abuse prevention, or who hope to secure positions working with young people or within the support service sector.
The most popular SAfEE course, however, proved to be the 3-hour on-line training course in Stalking, Coercive Control and Domestic Abuse. Learners hear about what stalking is and how it can impact lives by listening to Alice’s story. The session then covers the vital steps they need to follow to help those who are being stalked. After the course, participants have access to a number of useful resources and links to professional support services.
The Alice Ruggles Trust now plans to continue running independently the 3-hour short course in Stalking, Coercive Control and Domestic Abuse. Learners will understand the need to raise awareness of stalking among young people while recognising the myths of stalking and its behaviours. Additionally, the course aims to raise awareness about legislation, SPOs, and stalking motivations while overall recognising the impacts of stalking and response.
